My world was hell on earth, son of a man who was evil incarnate.
Hate was all I knew.

When she was stolen, I swore I’d find her.
When I meet her eyes again, I remember what I’m fighting for.
The girl will be mine.

I’ve seen true evil, held captive by the devil himself.
And now revenge is all I know.

Everything was stolen from me. Until him.
When my eyes meet his, I’m caught in his web.
Each moment that passes only confirms what I already know—I’m his.

*This is a dark romance. Due to scenes of an adult nature, this book is for 18+ ONLY. That’s the only warning you’ll get.

My Rating:

My Example
"Oh, little raven, most of the bad things that happen are my fault," I tell her.
"Little raven?" She smiles, gifting me a flash of happiness in the sordid world she's just been freed from.
"You remind me of the bird. Beautiful, yet darkness seems to consume you. Exquisite, but can be as violent as a bird of prey. It can devour the dead, but also shimmer in the sunglight."
"You're quite the poet, Drake." She utters my name with an affection I don't deserve. The sound so familiar, so intricately wove into the fabric of my veins. She finally reveals the truth. She does recognize me. I knew she couldn't forget me, even though I've changed, hardened to a man rather than the boy I was when we first met.
"Caia, words are merely that. It's actions that speak a thousand times louder than any utterance can," I inform her.
"Perhaps," she sighs. "But there are also words that can heal, that can offer solace in times where actions are futile."
"Maybe one day you can show me," I respond, knowing I want her to be here tomorrow, the next day, next month, next year. I don't want to lose her again, but that's up to her.
"You know me," her voice confident. "These have been long, lonely years, Drake Savage." There's sadness lacing each word she utters. It matches the emotion that's waging war in my chest. I want her. I crave her. But I don't want her to live this life of darkness that's got hold of me.

My Thoughts
Wow!!!! This was deep, dark, sexy and twisted. Seriously an interesting romance that left me both disturbed by the events and plot, but intrigued by the characters. Dani René is a new author for me, so I didn't go into this expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. I think I am a fan of her writing.

This picks up six months after the events of Stolen (the prequel) and boy was I surprised with things concerning Malcolm.

Drake is still a dark, twisted man, but he's softened a bit after falling in love. Drake is out for blood. To destroy Savage by all means. I am loving his revenge plan. He is sick and twisted for enjoying death, but he also only kills those who have taken part in the Savage business. Being that he is the oldest of the Savage brothers -- I must say he lives up to his name! I loved Drake from the prequel and despite his dark moments I knew he always had a pure heart. His heart was just clouded by the darkness his father (Malcolm) trained him in. Drake was a manly man, but could also switch up quickly.

Caia is even stronger than ever. I never expected her to survive that ending of Stolen, but she did and she is still as feisty as ever. She is out for blood and I love it! She knows how to be a savage when she needs to be. She still has a sweetness about her despite all that happened to her. The hope she had really saw her through.

River is a funny character. I enjoyed his character for many reasons, but plainly because he was always the one to make you feel safe or laugh in-spite of the craziness around them. I loved how quick he worked. River was such an awesome friend and love interest.

The romance was insane! I never expected a male-male romance honestly. Especially between two handsome, brooding men, but boy was I shocked! Throw in the mix Caia and now you have a whole sandwich going on. I'm still not sure how I feel about the romance. I loved it and the relationship Caia had between both Drake and River -- more so with Drake -- but those moments between Drake and River...they kind of had me confused. I enjoyed it, but I also didn't care for it because I was more so team Caia and Drake. Throw in the mix the big plot twist and it just made me mad! However, the romance was awesome overall and had some interesting steamy scenes.

Dante, Drake's twin brother, is a loose cannon in every way. I loved his heart for his brother and how he wanted to be free, but that boy needed some HELP. Harper, Caia little sister, is just as strong as Caia, but also a bit more twisted. She actually freaked me out towards the end.

The plot was already crazy from the prequel, but mix in a threesome, family secrets and drama...this was CRAZY! The ending was beautiful! I am glad that though all the characters had such messed up lives, they all got their happy ending some how.

If you're not keen on her dark romances that include rape, physical abuse, mental abuse, emotional abuse, cutting, incest, gay romance or even lesbian romance -- this is NOT the book for you. It shatters the heart and probably even the mind.
