My Thoughts
When I received an email from the publisher about an upcoming blog tour for this book what caught my attention was the cover and title. I mean, look at it. When I read the synopsis I was beyond intrigued. I don't normally read many mafia stories even though I love a good mafia romance -- just hate the mafia politics, hierarchy and views of women. However, this book was everything and more for me. The characters, the family dynamics, the drama, the power, the strength and everything just was freaking phenomenal!

Mia Cordano is a the daughter of Don Cordano. She's not your typical Mafia princess. She doesn't abide by the sexist rules of women not working and being the perfect wife. No, she wore punk clothes, worked as a great hacker, spoke her mind and said no when she felt she wanted to. She stood up to her sadistic father, she cut a man when he got too friendly and she risked her life for love. I loved Mia!!!! She was everything and more. She was sassy, smart and a well rounded woman. Her strength was unbelieable. She never just let things happen like her mother and she never allowed her father to get to her sister. She stood up to him even if it meant her death. Mia was a powerhouse.

Nico Toscani should have been the Don of the Toscani family, but because his father had him with his mistress he was not. He was set to marry Rosa Scozzari because the marriage/alliance would legitimize Nico’s status as heir to head the family, and give him the power to overthrow his uncle. However, he never expected to fall for the enemy. Nico was an amazing man. He wasn't your typical mobster that wanted to kill, overpower and have tons of cash. No, he thought with his brain. He planned things out, he worked hard to keep the family good without having to dip into the drug world. He tried and did things in legitimate ways as best as he could. He was the kind of man no one said no to. People feared and respected him at the same time. He didn't always resort to violence, but could always throw a mean punch. Nico was intense, loving, kind, handsome and downright badass. The perfect man candy.

The romance between Nico and Mia started years ago when Nico helped her after she was forced to watch her father kill her love and then hit her. When they are reunited as adults the fire is set ablaze. Mia is attracted to Nico and he to her, but because they were "enemies" they couldn't dare step over the boundaries -- or could they. I freaking loved them together. Nico was all macho man and Mia was all powerhouse. Together they made a killer team. The love was there, but it took them a while to recognize what they felt for each other. From start to finish I was engrossed in their relationship. From the stolen kisses to the secret moments to steamy sex -- I loved it all. That ending was freaking perfect for them!

Mia's father, Don Cordano, was a major sexist, sadistic, evil dragon in every sense. His ideals and the way he treated his wife and kids was absolutely ruthless. I just couldn't deal with him in any scene. Beating on your daughters and wife as punishment for not being "dutiful women" was straight bullshit. Forcing your son to kill a man cause your a punk makes him a damn coward. I hated him and Mia should have let him die that night. I would have!

Dante Cordano was a sad man and as much as I would love to blame it all on his father I can't. Dante had many times to say no, but he took the cowards way out and did anything his father said like the puppet he was. I can't believe that he really was going to clean house with his sisters at his father's request. Disgusting just as his father -- glad he met his end.

Nico's uncle, Santo, was a major asshole. He was the current Don which he took what was rightfully Nico's, but because his mother was the mistress he was considered a bastard. Santo made sure to exploit that every chance he could when Nico was around. Santo was greedy for power and hungry for money which ultimately. Same goes for Nico's idiot cousin Tony, Santo's son. I just hated them both.

I am totally excited to read the companion sequel all about Luca. Can't wait to see more of Nico and Mia in it hopefully. I just need more Nico and Mia.
