This book was a ball of fun to read. I went into this with low expectations and had fun. The characters were great and comical. The writing was easy to read through. The pacing was just right. The magic was easy to understand. I didn't read the first series, so I was a bit confused at times, but I was able to settle into the story well enough.
Kera is such a "spicy" character -- I shipped her a ton. I could tell from the way she was written that she had a ton of development throughout the other series into this one. The setting was everything to me as well because I found the descriptions pulling me into the story even more. The other characters were all so different and seemed to be good allies for Kera and helped the story as well. Lots of action going on and I LOVED it all.
For my first read from Mr. Anderle this was great, so I plan to read more from him soon. This could have easily been a five star read for me if I had read the other series prior to.
