 My Rating: 
My Thoughts:
Magic. Action. Fast paced adventure. This book has it all! I enjoyed the first book in this coming series. This was a fun ride getting into the characters and the plot. I had fun with this story and the writing as a whole. The magic system wasn't complicated and the fantasy aspects gripped me from beginning to end.

The story follows Genevieve who is our main character. She learns the secrets of her mother and family and must now walk in their footsteps. Though she was 18 years old, she seemed a bit naïve. It didn't bother me as much since she wasn't fully aware of her mother's life, but it's definitely something to note. I enjoyed Katie as her friend; she was always there with Genevieve -- good and bad.

This wouldn't be a YA novel with a romance and better than that two love interests: Jensen and Scythe. Both are great guys, but I am more of a fan of Scythe. His character is amazing and his name is just phenomenal. I'm interested to see how things go for them and Genevieve and to see how the romance pans out.

Overall, I'm excited to see where this series goes and to revisit Genevieve and her crew as they all mature.
About the Author:
Matt Chapman grew up outside of Cleveland and now lives in St. Louis, Missouri where he is completing his residency in Psychiatric medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. He is a graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine where he obtained his MD and a graduate of Saint Louis University where he majored in Biology.

Matt has had a passion for writing and reading since childhood and continues to find time for these interests among his other pursuits, including medical education and leadership studies. He is currently working on his next novel in The Banewind Series.
