This was a pretty great read. Very quick and easy to get through. Enjoyable with a rush of emotions from start to finish. This is my first time reading from Anne Calhoun and I definitely plan to check out more from her!
Riva is a smart woman with her own business and even helping out teens looking to get into the restaurant industry. I loved how sweet she was and how intense she could be. She knew how to have fun even though she had been through some hardships. She didn't let her past mistakes make her or ruin her life. I loved that she was living for herself.
Ian is a dominant man through and through but he was also sweet and tender. He had his own hardships, but he didn't truly overcome them -- however he did make the best of what he could. I admired his strength. Everything about him was laid back.
The romance was pretty intense since they met 7 years prior when Ian arrested Riva. Now they meet again with similar circumstances and their feelings attraction is still on high alert. I enjoyed watching them cross the line and try to keep things casual until they knocked down their walls. I adored them together because they oddly completed each other. I will say that scene when she was helping him clean up after boxing -- oh my -- that was insane and hot at the same time.
Rory was a terrible father. I couldn't believe all that he did to his wife, Stephanie, and all that he did to his daughter. He was a wicked man. I totally hated him.
