Several hundred years into the future, The Cleansing, known to some as the End of Days, forced the government to create Arks to shelter its people. When Earth became habitable again, new territories rose up from the ashes: Agria, the City of Light, and the Outer Boundaries. For a while, they lived in peace.

A brilliant surgeon known for his invention of Modi’s—the only cure for the deadly disease, vaincre—has gone rogue with his experiments, and the Monarchy is desperate to shut him down. That’s where Aeva Storm comes in, a champion athlete with an ego to match. Aeva is the surgeon’s secret weapon against the Monarchy. And they’ll never know what hit them. After reconstructing her body to become a Modi unlike any he’s ever created, Aeva is forced into a fight against all odds. She’ll have to break loyalties, hurt family, and turn her back on newly awakened love. Thousands of lives hang in the balance in a battle that will set forth a new era.

Join Aeva on her quest to see whether she’s got what it takes to go up against the most powerful humans ever created.

My Review

Anna Soliveres has created an outstanding sci-fi novel with Violet Storm. I enjoyed her writing style a lot. Even though it was a bit slow paced for my liking it was exciting, had twists and turns and mysterious. She created a fabulous world, amazing characters and charm within the story that leads to an awesome series.

The main character Aeva Storm is a young Fila champion from Agria. During a championship she gets struck by lightening and wakes up in a strange place. She finds out from a man named Behr that her home is gone and her family is dead. She must find her way back to see what has been told of her home. As she journeys back she comes across Karth, a young man, who saved her life from Outlanders. When she arrives to Agria she met by a young lady and others who take her back to the City. There she meets Ruven where learns the truth of her existence and the world she lives in.

I totally loved Aeva! She was a strong kickass lead. She had strength and determination alone from being an athlete, but when she awakes after the championship game she realizes she has more strength than she can remember. She handled the truth of her existence pretty well. If it were me I'd be screaming like a banchee. To be a modi must have been a shocker.

A modi is a person that has been modified/ altered. They have super strength, new body parts and changes with technology. She is a Modi, but the extent of her modification is that she is herself, but in someone elses body and the person she is now is unexpected! She must now face the fact she can never be Aeva Storm again, but must become Violet (read to find out who Violet is) and she learns all that Behr has said was a lie only to kill the Monarch and assume position as the new ruler.

Karth is a sweet young man. When we are introduced to him on Aeva's journey to see Agria he is all swoon worthy, but as the story progresses and I learned more about him I learned that his hatred for Modi's will be his strongest weakness and in the end he becomes his worse nightmare. Ruven is hot as ever! I loved learning about his upgrades and why he wore a coat all the time. His secret was definitely awesome! Karth and Ruven are from different tracks, but they both are one in the same. Their father's are both jerks working together for different reasons.

The romance was subtle and I enjoyed that because it didn't take away from the story at all. The "love triangle" was cute to me. The fact the Aeva felt indebted to Karth, but Ruven loved her and hated that she couldn't see it -- totally awesome!

The Monarch was not a bad guy as I assumed he would be. It was never him doing all the wrong, but Behr who deceived everyone. Behr is a straight evil, psycho douche bag. Every story needs that one character to want to rule and be evil with power he created, but he takes it way to far. Punishing his own son, kidnapping children, modifying people who don't consent -- I mean really. Is the war that serious for him? I totally hated him!

That ending was epic, but also such a cliffhanger. Is Behr still alive and what happened to Knox and Pique? Like OMG -- I can't believe how this ended!

I am excited for the sequel next year to see what happens left and if those unanswered questions get answered.
